Well I almost didn’t do a Follow Friday post today. But I figured I’d better, have to keep pushing myself to stay consistent. When it came to picking what topic to base this Follow Friday on I found myself in quite the conundrum. I mean I just got to meet a lot of people I’ve met via Twitter locally last night at the inaugural Social Media Club of Johnson County; and this weekend I’ll be meeting up with some tweeps I haven’t met yet/have already met at BlueGlass LA. So, I thought I’d make a mix of the two and call this edition of #FF IRL Tweeps:

*sigh* What do you say about a guy like Alan? He is the most intelligent, blunt, sarcastic, passionate person I’ve ever met in this industry. I first got connected with Alan on Twitter after I found out he also writes for the Search Engine Journal (plug for Alan’s articles here). A few months later just before I went to my first conference in Tampa, FL he followed me back. There have been some interesting tweets to say the least from this guy. I’ve found more resources and interesting people to follow on twitter from this great guy. But if you follow him, be ready to engage when he does you. Because he will blow your mind.

I honestly for the life of my cannot remember when, why or how I ended up following Laura (I don’t think she does either). But she has certainly been the person who has kept me up to date with all the networking events locally. Mainly because she sets up quite a few of them herself. Always on the go, connecting peers with one another, Laura is a wealth of information and very, very talented at networking. She is someone who I’ve glad to tweet with, and a person I was glad to meet IRL. But a word of caution when following her, tweets come at all hours and are pretty random. Which I guess is a good thing :).

I met Melissa aka SEOAware literally three weeks before I would meet her IRL. A true search geek, Melissa not only has some great tweets but also has the same great personality IRL as she does online. Though she is taller than I thought she would be. None the less she is a fellow geek and StarWars fanatic, but I think she has me WAY totally beat on the StarWars category (see blogroll anchor text above). Melissa is the only person that’s worn/twitpiced/dailyboothed/tweeted StarWar paraphernalia on a daily basis, she has a pretty great blog too. It doesn’t matter if you like StarWars or not, she will turn you into a true believer. Go follow her…NOW!

After I read some of Shelly’s posts, retweeted by @Alysson, I decided to look a little closer at her account. This is one of those accounts that posts some great news sources, from a variety of locations around the net. I don’t have to follow nearly as many news account because Shelly find them all. More importantly she finds the better ones. She is as engaging and intelligent online as she is IRL, though she is shorter that I thought she would be. Shelly engages, writes fantastic blog posts and isn’t afraid to tell it like it is online or IRL. So what are you waiting for? Go follow her. Go now!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this edition of Follow Friday. I’ll return to my carefully consistent crafty composings on Monday. Until then, thanks for reading!

  1. Oh Josh, that might be the nicest thing anyone has ever written about me 🙂 Thanks!

  2. Wow! I am honored to be so highly regarded! And thanks for not unfollowing me when I 3am tweet! You never know what you need to know at 3am unless you know it. Ya know?

    • Oh comeon! 3 am tweets are the best!

  3. Joshua,

You are most kind. You have truly been a pleasure to interact and engage with in the online space and are even more erudite and intelligent IRL. I’m thrilled we finally go the chance to connect in person and look forward to seeing (and hearing) (and reading) more from you!!

And, for the record, I was wearing 3″ heels last night :))

    • Shelly, thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Again it was just great to hang out. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity.

OH and as for the 3 inch heels, I’ll go barefoot next time to try to get to your eye level 🙂

  4. 1. If this page ends up ranking higher for my name than any of my own sites, I’m going to kick your ass. Literally. Because I maintain an illusion these days that I know what I’m talking about in the industry. And that would be bad. for that illusion.

    2. ” be ready to engage when he does you” uh, that sounds NSFW. And I don’t “do” guys.

    3. Thanks for including me in this list. I think.

    • 1. I don’t see how it will. But if it were to, I think I can out run you.

      2. Ahh typos, not sure if I’ll fix it or not. And I’m not here to judge you 😛
*And NSFW that would be most of your tweets my friend 🙂

      3. You are most welcome.

We are gonna rock it in LA!
