Dexter Bobblehead

DEXTER! In case you didn’t know it Dexter Morgan is the protagonist in the show, “Dexter” that was done by Showtime based on the books by Jeff Lindsay (loosely I might add, though I haven’t read all the books yet). Basically he’s a vigilantly serial killer who works as a blood splatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide. He was rescued at a crime scene by his father Harry Morgan, who was a cop, and adopted him. When this happened he ended up with a sister, Debra Morgan who also works in Miami Metro with Dexter but in a different capacity. As Dexter grew up Harry realized what Dexter could become and taught him how to use his “urges” for good. While I don’t condone in real life what he does, it did make for a really good story line and show (up until the last season…I don’t want to talk about it).

Why I picked this bobblehead from show

I like Dexter because I think a lot of people can relate with him (on some level, not the murderous tendency level of course). I think a lot of people struggle with understanding themselves and with trying to figure out what their life should be/mean and how those in their lives fall into that place. For a while I did, trying to figure out what I want to do with my life and if I made the right decisions that led me to where I am. And as of now, yeah I’m confident they did. All that aside, since Dexter is the main character, the most iconic from the series, that’s why I wanted to get him. I picked the one from Bif Bang Pow! via Amazon. And it’s pretty sweet.

A Dexter bobblehead figure, featuring a man in a gray shirt and tie, holding a weapon. Dexter bobblehead figurine holding a microphone on a desk. Side view of a Dexter bobblehead figure holding a knife, standing on a blue base. Back view of a Dexter bobblehead next to a microphone and computer monitors. How does this Dexter bobblehead look and function?

If you’re familiar with the series you’d notice it from across a room. I mean he is holding a bloody knife and carrying black plastic trash bag. So from a distance I’d say the detail is pretty good. Upclose, I’d have to say it is pretty detailed. His hair looks neat and combed like it does in the show and you can see the wrinkles on his “killing shirt” that make it seem as if he’s been
using it or out and about stalking his next victim. You can see his cargo pants and details of those well enough, even his boots are all brown. Which may seem odd to those not familiar with the show, but if you look up the boots he used, you’ll see the shoes and the laces are all brown. I’m not sure if that’s attention to detail or laziness, but I found it a sweet coincidence.

How does Dexter bobble?

Pretty well I might say, it doesn’t take much to get the head shaking around. Even from a light tap it’ll bobble for almost a minute, not to mention if you have it on your desk and you’re typing away it’ll be bobbing almost all day. Even though I work in an unfinished basement I still find it bobbling when I walk up to the desk and set a cup of coffee down. Still, it doesn’t bobble near as much as a few others do on my desk and for that reason alone I think it has the right amount of “bobble” associated with it. For me at least.

What is the Dexter bobblehead made of and how tall is it?

Not sure what it’s *exactly* made of, but it appears to be made of resin and is just under 7 inches tall (although on Amazon he’s listed at 7 inches). He’s on a pretty steady/weighty base, and unless you push him over he isn’t going to go anywhere. Like most/any bobbleheads this is more for collecting than “playing with”. I wouldn’t let my kids use it in their daily play time, and neither should you. I’m looking forward to having this one as a main piece on my desk for a long time.

Why do I like this Dexter bobblehead?

Good question. Dexter, MAN I LOVED THIS SHOW. I first watched this when Tara and I were first married and it came on CBS (I think). And Tara and I watched EVERY episode, it was awesome. Then when the first season was over a short message from Showtime appeared that said “If you want to watch more to subscribe to Showtime”. REMARKABLE marketing if you ask me. This reminds me of my first year of marriage, my last year of college and my thirst for marketing. Anyone that is a fan of the show I highly recommend they get it and display it proudly on their desk.
